Gary Bishop (MBACP) Dip. TA Psychotherapeutic Counselling
I am a BACP registered counsellor, working with individuals, couples and groups. I have trained in Transactional Analysis counselling and psychotherapy at The Metanoia Institute. Having qualified in psychotherapeutic counselling I am also working towards MSc Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.
I have worked for a national mental health charity and for a local hospice, with a broad range of presentations, including bereavement, anxiety, depression, work related stress, relationship issues, anger and self-harm.
I currently work in private practice and also as Honorary Psychotherapist in The NHS where I work with clients with complex mental health needs.
My way of thinking is that we are profoundly influenced by the environment in which we grew up, socially, culturally and with-in our family units. These past patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour can limit how we feel about ourselves in the present, resulting in overwhelming feelings, irrational thoughts and destructive behaviour.
